Wireframing for Researchers

Overview

How can we bridge the gap between research and design?

I work directly with a junior UX researcher who doesn't design at all. Their background is in psychology and this is their first job as a UX researcher. Design has been a steep learning curve for them! A few months ago we started spending time weekly wireframing in Miro together. This has led to a few positives:

  1. We have a shared understanding for our users jobs to be done
  2. They have slowly learned some design techniques
  3. I have a better sense for what steps are needed in our products workflows

The below example shows how a user workflow can be aligned with some miro based wireframes that reflect the workflow. During the process, we aren't distracted by the design system or enterprise patterns. During this time we are simply trying to understand the current and ideal user workflow.

The below two examples are some rough examples of how we have used our space. We also found parallels to the Dominos Tracker (but for prescription drugs.)
